July 1, 1952 — Fort Monmouth, NJ and Washington, D.C. — Objects Tracked at 50,000ʹ, G/V

July 1, 1952 — Fort Monmouth, NJ and Washington, D.C.
8:40–9:15 a.m. Two silvery objects move south along the East Coast and hover near Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, for about 5 minutes at 50,000 feet. As radar at Fort Monmouth detects the objects, they put on a burst of speed and head southwest toward Washington, D.C., confirmed visually. At about 12:00 noon, a physics professor at George Washington University in D.C. sees a grayish UFO hovering and arcing back and forth across the sky for about 8 minutes. He guesses about 500 people are watching the object. [Eberhart]
