Evening. Philip Lansing is driving south of Meridian, Mississippi, when his car coasts to a stop and the radio fades. As he gets out to check the engine, a large object like a cymbal on a drum set passes 200–300 feet above him. It is silent except for the sound of rushing air. Before reaching some trees, it tilts upward, moves to the right, then accelerates at an angle and disappears in the distance. [Eberhart]
