12:01 a.m. In Benton Harbor, Michigan, Jerome Wolanin [Donald Jerome according to newsaper], assistant news director of a radio station, and his wife see an oval-shaped object with red, green, and yellow lights around the bottom rim, which pulsates red. It flies level from east to west and is joined by a second object from the west that hovers for 30 seconds then disappears. The objects make a hissing sound. [Eberhart]
