June 30, 1948 — Hecla, SD — Unusual Star

June 30, 1948 — Hecla, SD
A couple are driving near Hecla, South Dakota, when they see an unusual star. They stop the car and get out, but it is not moving. They drive on and stop again. A few pieces break off the original star and arrange themselves in a triangle formation. They all now look like polished aluminum; they rise to a great height and vanish. [Eberhart]
