This was my favorite video from Enigma in 2024. See my Top 10 here.

Just took a quick look at the video. Zoomed in. Noticed when the light spreads exactly how the cam moves. you can safely classify this one as a “Light trace”
camera zoom and jerk left to right is causing the light trace.
The swirling lighting stops when the camera is centred and not jerking around

Light trace, or lens flare, is a visual artifact that occurs when light rays, instead of being focused onto the sensor, are scattered by imperfections or dirt on the lens, causing streaks or halos of light to appear in the image

I am not so sure of that. They saw the object before they began taking video and can be heard commenting. It does appear to be an object, though I do think some movement is due to the phone movement.

I am not denying there is a light source, I think the light source has light trace effects caused by camera
take a closer look and see how they pan the cam to the left and it causes the light trace. the camera is moving left to right, the sensor is trying to adjust.

at 0.03 seconds she has the camera jitter to the left and then to the right.
as she is zooming in it is also causing some light trace.
left to right light trace becuase the movement of the phone

when the camera isnt shaking around you wont see the light trace but a light spot instead.
its not flying left to right, its just camera panning that way.
But of course we all have our opinions free to interpret. I just understand a lot about light traces and escpecially on cell phones they are not sophisticated cameras. I have a hard time as it is cleaning my cam on my phone before scanning a QR code.
I like the military grade cams, they are really good.
she moves the cam to the left it leaves a light trace trail and then she moves it the opposite direction so light trace move opposite direction
you can also slow the video down to 0.25 and see the trace. little hear icon bottom right of video. and gives you speed settings

I asked Meta AI what causes light trails in my cell phone videos.

Those annoying light traces on your cell phone videos! There are a few possible causes:

  1. Lens flare: Light enters the lens at a shallow angle, causing a streak or haze.
  2. Optical bloom: Light overflows from bright areas, creating a glow or trail.
  3. Motion blur: Fast-moving light sources or objects create blurred trails.
  4. Rolling shutter: The camera’s rolling shutter can distort or streak moving light sources.
  5. Sensor blooming: The camera sensor becomes overwhelmed by bright light, causing trails or streaks.

To minimize light traces:

  • Adjust your camera settings: Reduce exposure compensation or use HDR.
  • Position yourself: Avoid direct sunlight or bright light sources.
  • Use a lens filter or hood: Reduce lens flare and optical bloom.
  • Edit your footage: Use video editing software to remove or reduce light traces.
