In Europe, during the past two months unidentified drones have received a lot of attention. Sightings have been made near military bases, airports and other strategically important locations in countries such as Denmark, Germany, Poland, Norway, and most recently in Belgium. These drones are believed to be tools of hybrid war and linked to Russian “shadow fleet” tanker that was seized off on the coast of France in late September.
Unexpectedly, amongst all the drone articles, one article seems to talk about UAP. The strange incident took place in Lithuania, on 9th of September 2025. As can be read from the news article below, the case contains all the elements of a classical UAP sighting: 1) object is detected on a radar, 2) fighter jets make no visual contact with the object, 3) object is believed to be “a meteorological event”.
This news article is noteworthy, because in some parts of Europe, UFO /UAP still tend to be a topic for yellow press. To find an objective and formal news article that uses the term ‘unidentified object’ is rare and gives visibility to the phenomenon, even if the incident turns out to be a meteorological event, as suggested. I wonder whether there are FLIR footage from those fighter jets …
